About CTC Midwest

LOCATION

CTC MIDWEST saw its origins in 1994 at NAS Lakehurst, NJ where the first “Boot Camp” was held for cadets from the Midwest and points east.  This command then moved to Ft. Dix, NJ for 1997 and then to Aberdeen proving grounds in 1998 based on needing more size and additional facilities.  The tragedy of 911 saw many changes to the geographical predecessors of CTC Midwest, and in 2002 the command moved to Ohio (to better serve a broader geographical area) and operated from the Ohio State University until national security concerns allowed a move back to a more traditional military facility.

In 2003, CTC Midwest as it was known by then found a permanent home at Camp Perry Military reservation in Port Clinton, Ohio.  This facility, besides becoming a strong supporter of our program, supports many other youth, civic, and law enforcement missions; in addition to its primary roles in the support of the military forces of our country.

CTC Midwest is a multi-level (250+ personnel) command, that as of 2009 encompasses seven (7) different schools for the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.  Future plans are to contain up to 11 primary and potentially 14 different schools operating (primarily) during the summer months.   There are also plans to conduct schools directly aimed at furthering the education and professional growth of our officer corps, and our senior cadets.

Our facilities, as provided for by the US Army and the State of Ohio truly help to make the CTC Midwest experience one of the best that can be obtained for a U.S. Naval Sea Cadet.  From outstanding facilities, to great food, to a “medical friendly” policy, to an outstanding and nationally recognized training program; CTC Midwest at Camp Perry has it all.
